TextBetter Message Character Limits
Is there a character limit on messages sent through TextBetter?
Yes. By default, all TextBetter customers are initially limited to sending messages up to 306 characters, including spaces. This limit is in place to help customers better manage messaging usage and associated costs.
While this character limit can be increased or decreased based on your organization’s preferences and use case, it is important to understand the billing implications associated with longer text messages before making any changes.

Message Segments & Billing Explained
Certain TextBetter plans & products include a set number of outbound message segments per month. Any usage beyond your included amount is billed at $0.04 per outbound message segment until your monthly limit resets.
Messages are billed based on message length, measured in message segments.
Key Details:
- 1 segment = 153 characters, including spaces
- Messages longer than 153 characters count as multiple segments
- Emojis and special characters may reduce the number of characters allowed per segment
- Longer messages may increase monthly usage and overage charges
Segment Examples:
- A message up to 153 characters = 1 segment
- A message between 154–306 characters = 2 segments
- A message between 307–459 characters = 3 segments
